AgeWell, an assessment tool for an age-friendly living environment

During the first half of 2023, the Inter’Act research lab designed a prototype version of an age-friendly assessment tool, commissioned by the SWITCH Delivery Unit of the Huy-Waremme district.

Based on 8 indicators issued from the literature, this user-friendly tool helps local actors of any small-scale territory (municipal employees, town planning representatives…) evaluate how (in-)adequate their services, transportation, local participatory culture or even pavements might be, looking at those through the eyes (and needs) of their elders. Articulated around a simple encode-yourself excel sheet and a Wal-on-map visual synthesis, the tool is thought as supporting decision-making processes around (i) priority areas for more age-friendly interventions and/or (ii) adequate areas to develop further aging-well infrastructures, housing and services.
